WHAT IS THE BEST TIME TO TRAVEL TO TANZANIA?
Because of the geographical diversity, there are several climate zones. The flat coastal region has a tropical climate while the mountainous north, south and west have a more temperate climate. High temperatures are common, all year round. The long rains begin in March and end in May, while the short rains begin in October and continues to early December. From July to October the country is at its driest. So the best time for you to travel, depends on your expectations. Get in touch with our Mountain's Hug Team, for sure they will advise you as best as possible.

GET A VISA
Your Visa can be either requested online through the official Visa website from the Tanzanian government or acquired as Visa on arrival (50,-$ or 100,-$ for US Citizens) at the main ports of entry to Tanzania. Your Passport should have at least 6 months of validity after the final day of travel. Our Mountain's Hug Team is looking forward to assist you in all upcoming paperworks.

TANZANIAS CURRENCY
The official currency of Tanzania is the Tanzanian Shilling. It should be used for smaller expenses like shopping at local markets, restaurants and supermarkets.
To ensure your liquidity, as well at the Airport as in the cities ATMs are available.

The US dollar is especially used in tourist areas, where it is even possible to pay by credit card, for an extra charge.

Even though Mountain's Hug stuff is payed fair, tipping is very common in Tanzania. Sure you should only give if you are satisfied with the quality of the service.
As small tip for carried baggage for example, we recommend 1,-$ p.P. (2500TSH). For your Ranger, Guide or Driver it is customary to leave a tip of 10,-$ p.P. (24000TSH) per day. For wait staff at a restaurant the tip should be 15-20% of the pretax bill.

SWAHILI
There are over 100 different languages spoken in Tanzania. However, the official languages are Swahili and English. Our Mountain's Hug guides and hosts they are all fluent in English. Additional some are fluent in German, French, Italian and Spanish. For sure we will pick the one you require to have an unforgettable experience.

The risk of Malaria is high as well on Zanzibar Island as on the western shore of Lake Victoria. At Arusha region the risk of Malaria is on its lowest.

Dengue fever is transmitted by diurnal mosquitoes, mainly in the coastal areas.

Yellow fever is transmitted by the bite of infected mosquitoes. However the risk of contracting the disease in Tanzania is low.
